Detroit Tigers’ Bats Continue to Stay Hot Against Seattle Mariners

Steven Bisig-USA TODAY Sports

After getting off to a slow start this season, the Detroit Tigers‘ offense has been on fire as of late.  In fact, eight of their last 10 games have seen at least six Tigers’ runs after the team started the first three games of the year scoring no more than four runs and watching their record drop to 1-2.

The Tigers are now 8-5 and have been on quite the tear. Their latest victim: the Seattle Mariners.

Detroit has been ripping up the competition lately. If you look at their lineup on paper, you would be impressed, but if you look at the actual numbers that this team has been putting up, you would be in awe.

The lineup features seven former All-Stars, two MVP candidates and six guys hitting over .300 through the first 13 games this season. Prince Fielder was leading the whole league in hitting before an 0-5 performance at the plate Tuesday night. Other than the 0-for game he had, the powerful Fielder has been dominant this season. He is hitting .383 with four home runs and 19 RBIs.

While Fielder’s bat is hot, Torii Hunter, Miguel Cabrera and Austin Jackson round out possibly the best one through four batters in the league thus far. Not one of those guys is hitting below .345, and two of them have been RBI machines.

This may be a tough series for the Mariners as they have to face three of the best pitchers in the American League in Doug Fister, Max Scherzer and Justin Verlander, while facing the hottest team in baseball.

Good thing for the Mariners, however, they have ‘King’ Felix Hernandez on the mound in game two of the three-game series. Other than that, it’s a tough break for Seattle.
