Arizona Diamondbacks Offense Restrained in Loss to Colorado Rockies

Chris Humphreys-USA Today Sports

The Arizona Diamondbacks had a chance to make statement against one of the hottest teams in MLB on Friday night facing the Colorado Rockies, who were on a six game winning streak.

Arizona had come into the game only two games behind Colorado for the division lead, but the starting pitcher for the Rockies Jhoulys Chacin had other ideas, and he was able to silence the offense for the Diamondbacks in this game.  Chacin did a great job of throwing strikes to the batters he faced, and he mixed his pitches effectively as well.

The production that the Diamondbacks have received from their line up has been inconsistent at times this season, and the main reason for this is the numerous injuries that Arizona has dealt with. The injuries are no excuse for the lack of effort they displayed against the Rockies.

The hitters looked like they were tired at the plate, and they did not take a good approach when facing the opposing pitchers. They seemed to deviate from the game plan by swinging at bad pitches, and allowed the Rockies pitchers that they faced to dictate the pace of the game.

The offense for Arizona in games this season has done a great job of work working the count to their benefit, and this has allowed to them to generate plenty of scoring opportunities against opposing teams.

Arizona has players on their team that can produce for the offense, but they seemed to show a lack of concentration in tonight’s game.
