Detroit can be very pleased with the team that the Detroit Tigers are running out onto the field. As a matter of fact I still think they are one of the best teams in Major League Baseball. Even the best teams have rough patches though and the recent four game losing streak is proof of that for the Tigers. I think the best time for a losing streak is by far in April though. Now they can lose a few more and then get back to winning for the rest of the season. Well, that is probably how they would draw it up.
The part where they lose a few more before getting it together could come at the hands of the hot Kansas City Royals. The Royals recently ended the Atlanta Braves winning streak with Wade Davis on the mound. The Tigers have the good fortune of facing Davis to start the series. I’m sure they are hoping for a little switching of fates so that the Royals can end their losing streak. It could happen that way. After all the Tigers still have a very potent offense.
For the Tigers to successfully end their losing skid against the Royals, who have won three of their last four games, they will need to get back to the basics of pitching good enough to keep themselves in games. When that happens, the powerful offense has got to be better about driving in the guys on base. It doesn’t matter how many hits you get, if you don’t drive those guys in, nothing good happens. Call that elementary baseball I guess. As simple as it is, it will be the key to victory for the Tigers.
