This season may not be going the way the Philadelphia Phillies had been hoping for so far, but there is at least one thing to feel good about–the performances by pitcher Jonathan Pettibone.
The Phillies came through with a 4-1 win over the Miami Marlins on Friday thanks to another solid performance by Pettibone and some help from Philadelphia’s offense. Pettibone improved to 2-0 after pitching 6 1/3 innings as he allowed just one earned run on five hits as he continues to be a solid replacement for John Lannan and give Philadelphia more hope when it comes to their pitching staff.
Unfortunately, Philadelphia’s aces haven’t been as dominant as previous seasons and their offense hasn’t been anything to brag about either as they’re arguably oen of the most inconsistent in baseball. Even if it is only May, every win is important this early in the season and Philadelphia has to be impressed with the way Pettibone has been playing so far.
Who knows–maybe Pettibone’s performances will earn him a spot in the rotation for the long run. He may not be as dominant as some of the other pitchers on the squad, but Pettibone is getting the job done for the Phillies when it matters the most.
Hopefully, Pettibone can continue the success he’s had so far with Philadelphia and continue to make a name for himself in the big leagues while helping the Phillies pick up a few wins in the process.
