Oakland Athletics Get Contributions From Entire Team

Seeing the Oakland Athletics play seemingly above their head is getting to be old hat these days in Major League Baseball. They almost always have one of the lowest payrolls in the game and yet they almost always are serious contenders to win the American League West and much more. Though they lost Saturday’s game to the Chicago White Sox, they certainly are a favorite to take the series in Sunday’s game, even if they aren’t really a favorite.

What I mean is of course the A’s are almost always looked at in baseball as underdogs. Not from series to series of course but in the season as a whole. Even though they recently completed a month long run down of the Texas Rangers and currently are holding to a thin lead in the AL West, I guarantee you most experts would still pick the Rangers to take the division. You know what? I don’t think so. I think the A’s will take it because they play a team game better than the Rangers or anyone else.

I always think of Adam Rosales when I think of the A’s. He might not be their biggest or best hitter but it sure seems like all four homers and all eight of his RBI have been big ones. I know he hit the go ahead homer in the game against the White Sox the other night and sprinted around the bases with that huge smile on his face.

The fact that he is such a big part of the team with a .225 batting average, only 4 homers and 8 RBI, is exactly what I mean. They are a team only. When individuals outgrow the team in Oakland, they go somewhere else and make loads of money. The A’s meanwhile just keep winning, year in and year out and they’ll do it again this year.
