Don’t Despair: New York Yankees Legend Derek Jeter isn’t Done Yet

So in his first game back New York Yankees legend Derek Jeter strained a muscle while sprinting down the first base line. Is anyone really surprised in any part of this story except for the part where he kind of got hurt a little bit? No one surely is surprised that Jeter ran out a ground ball as hard as he can so it makes sense that people might be a little bit shaken by this quick little injury. That’s fine but for anyone thinking that this means Jeter is finished or too old, please take a break. Nothing could be farther from the truth.

Seriously after all this time and all of the great things he has done, there are really people out there, surely not Yankee fans, that think Jeter is just going to fold up tent and walk away after a follow up strain? Folks, if the ankle injury didn’t even keep him out more than half of a season at this age then why would anyone imagine a simple little strain would take him down? Most will tell you that going all out like that might not be a great idea in one’s first game back from being sidelined. After all like someone said, there is no match for the adrenaline rush of the major leagues and Yankee stadium.

Jeter will be fine. The only reason he isn’t at least DH-ing tonight and tomorrow and the next day is because the team doesn’t want him to. He wants to hit, run and play the field. There is no way someone with the track record and history of Jeter is going to end his career on a line of injuries. No matter how his career ends or when he decides to hang it up, it will be on his terms. You can bet your bottom dollar on that.
