You know your crazy uncle who says things around the dinner table that everyone just wants to argue with, but just rolls their eyes and stays silent?
That was the case today when former major leaguer Jack Clark accused Detroit Tigers‘ Justin Verlander of using steroids today. Clark, who also implicated Albert Pujols in his long list of players who he believes juiced without any evidence, cited Verlander’s lack of velocity this season as the reason as to why he believes the ace used steroids to cheat his way to the top.

The accusation that Verlander’s velocity has dropped so much that it must be steroids is crazy both from the standpoint that the velocity has not changed radically enough to suspect PED use, and also the fact that a loss of velocity happens to every pitcher over time.
I guess the fact that Craig Biggio got slower once he started getting older is also quite concerning to Mr. Clark, or the fact that some men tend to lose hair with age must be a sign that there is some shady business. It would be laughable if his comments didn’t get so much attention that it’s now cast doubt on a man no one should have doubt about.
It’s shameful that Jack Clark would defame a person with no evidence to back up his comments. No one has ever implicated Verlander in any PED talk, and the thought of it is ridiculous. Clark needs to issue an immediate apology and stick to things he might know more about, like poor eyebrow maintenance.
