The New York Yankees‘ controversial star Alex Rodriguez has lashed back at all of his critics and haters in the only way possible: getting base hits.
Rodriguez is handling the media and fans as a true professional. He is saying all of the right things to reporters, and he is answering the fans by doing the one thing they hate to see: succeeding.
Since returning from injury at the beginning of August, Rodriguez has played in 13 games, including today’s matchup against the divisional rival Toronto Blue Jays. In that span, Rodriguez has plated six Yankee runners and has at least one hit in 11 out of 13 games. With a .320 batting average and a .414 on-base percentage, Rodriguez has been reminding fans that even though they may hate him, he is still a good ball player.
Rodriguez managed to rack up five hits in a three-game series against the Boston Red Sox that saw him get beaned by Ryan Dempster. Rodriguez continued his hitting ways on Tuesday with a hit in the opening game of a series against the Blue Jays, as well as a walk.
As long as Rodriguez remains on the field during his appeals process, he will continue to be booed at all stadiums, even Yankee Stadium. The very thing that prepared Rodriguez for this trial and tribulation is the fact that he has been getting booed for a majority of his career.
“Haters gonna hate,” but A-Rod will keep on playing and laughing. Enjoy the show while it lasts.
