Everyone loves a great come from behind story. That’s good for Cleveland Indians fans because if they win anything this year it will be a come from behind move that gets it done. From time to time, even very recently they have convinced many, including myself that they are nearly done for the season. In recent games however there is a trend in the other direction being led by the pitching staff of all people.
Don’t get me wrong the hitting is there as well but in five of the last six games the Indians have given up three or fewer runs with only one game seeing them give up three. The rest were either one or two run performances by their staff. That is a huge pick-me-up for the team and it shows in their success over that time frame. The fruit of that great effort shows in their 5.5 games behind stance in the American League Central division.

That could be better of course but it certainly could be worse at this point considering where they were a little while ago. There is no guarantee that they will get enough of a push over the last 30 plus games to make a big difference in the crowded American League Wildcard race but they certainly look to have a better chance right now than they did just a short few games ago.
This is not a team of superstars that will take over. They need everyone on the team to step up as one to create a push for the spot they want to claim. There are stories like that nearly every season that capture the fancy of every romanticized baseball fan in October. Perhaps that story this season will be of the Indians.
