It isn’t a shame that the Kansas City Royals have been playing good of late. They have won the majority of their last ten games against tough opponents for a reason. That reason will not matter on Sunday however as they will face a must win versus a rebounding Texas Rangers team that is trying to fight their way back into the race that the Royals are just barely hanging on to. Simply put, the Royals have to win most of their games to even have a chance but that has to start with a win on Sunday.
They couldn’t have a better guy pitching such a big game as James Shields has been everything they thought he would be and more this season. It is only fitting that he start such a game. Chances are very good that he will provide all his team needs to be able to win. Of course they will need to score some runs as well which has been a problem all season long. None of that can happen tomorrow or over the next week if they want a chance.
It all starts tomorrow though. They must get even more serious and play even smarter baseball. No mistakes are going to be able to happen if they hope to have a shot at winning a wildcard spot. Even if they play well, which they have lately of course, it might not be enough without the other several teams losing at the right time and at the right pace. Such is life for the Royals but at least they do still have a chance. Many wouldn’t have figured they would have been anywhere near this race right now.
