Even Mother Nature couldn’t thwart the Texas Rangers‘ plans to try and make the post season. Saturday’s game was moved up eight hours to avoid inclement weather that is supposed to be traveling through Arlington on Saturday night. Even though the new game time created a quick turnaround for Texas, they were ready to play. Capitalizing on the Los Angeles Angels‘ errors, the Rangers have put themselves in a favorable position.
With Texas beating the Angels and the Tampa Bay Rays losing for the second consecutive day, they are both tied for the second wild card spot in the American League. If the Minnesota Twins can beat the Cleveland Indians, there will be a three-way tie for two wild-card spots. Either way, Sunday is shaping up to be a great finish to the regular season.
Because of the poor start to the final month of the season, Texas put themselves in a position where they need to win out the last week of the season against the Houston Astros and the Angels. Texas is one win away from doing just that. No matter what happens in the other games, if Texas will win on Sunday, they are guaranteed at least one more game. Texas will either play in the wild card game or they will play a tie-breaker on Monday to get into the wild card game.
First things first, though. The Rangers and Yu Darvish must take care of business on Sunday against the Angels. There is no sense in worrying about what other people do if you can’t take care of business yourselves.
