Tampa Bay Rays are put in Rough Spot Because of Tie-Breaker

Tampa Bay Rays

What a ride the 162 game regular season was for the Tampa Bay Rays. They fought hard to chase down the powerful Boston Red Sox only to fall so completely apart that they nearly fell out of the wildcard race. They came back to lead it only to fall out of it and now they are tied and have to make 162 games into 163 to hope for the MLB Postseason to carry their name. All things considered they have put themselves in a fairly rough spot.

Nothing is impossible but the Rays have already been playing tough games down the stretch and now they get zero rest. They had to jump a plane in Toronto down to Arlington, TX to play the Texas Rangers which is a one game chance at having a chance to play in the real postseason. They have to win Monday’s tie-breaker then hop a plane to play the Cleveland Indians who are hotter than anyone in baseball.

If they happen to beat both of those teams they then have to jump on another jet headed to play their American League East rival Red Sox. Needless to say this road will certainly not be an easy one. It could be considered impossible except that they have a good record against the Indians and a decent one against the Rangers. Even if they get to Boston, they’ll play a team that never really went into a slump this year. If the Rays get past Boston though, look out.
