Kansas City Royals vs. San Francisco Giants – World Series Game 5 (Series Tied 2-2)
Game Time, TV: Sunday, Oct. 26 – 8:07 p.m. ET on FOX
Starting Pitchers: James Shields (0-1, 15.00 ERA) vs. Madison Bumgarner (1-0, 1.29 ERA)
The San Francisco Giants couldn’t afford to go down 3-1 in the World Series. Luckily for them, their bats got hot in Game 4, and they ended up knocking off the Kansas City Royals by the score of 11-4. Not only have they tied up the series, but they have the momentum heading into Game 5 now.
Although San Fran has earned its place in the World Series, it is the Royals who have shocked the baseball world, and gained a boat load of fans in the process.
Although everyone’s new favorite baseball team will have to play on the road in this one, they can rest assured that this series will be going back to Kansas City no matter what happens in Game 5. In fact, Game 6 and 7 will be played at the Royals’ home. With that said, a win for the Giants in Game 5 becomes all that more important, while a win for the Royals would all but seal the deal.
All that aside, Madison Bumgarner is up to pitch. He has been phenomenal this postseason and has a 3-1 overall record and 1.40 ERA to prove it. Opposing him will be James Shields, who did not have a great outing in Game 1 of this series, giving up five runs and only lasting three innings.
If the San Fran bats stay hot in this one, the Giants very well could be going into Game 6 only one win away from winning yet another World Series.
Prediction: Bumgarner stays hot, the bats stay hot and San Fran gets one step closer to winning the title.
