Not only does the NL Central boast Yadier Molina, one of the best catchers of all-time, but each team is strong at the position. Here is a ranking of the starting catchers in the NL Central.

The Pittsburgh Pirates lost one of the best catchers in all of baseball in Russell Martin, but they now have a solid tandem in Francisco Cervelli and Chris Stewart. While they currently do not have the best group of catchers in the division, 19-year-old Reese Mcguire, who had a solid first season, could help the Pirates move back up to the top quickly.

Although Welington Castillo put up a solid season last year, the Cubs made a big upgrade in Miguel Montero. While his bat may not be as strong as it once was, his experience will pay dividends with the young rotation quickly. Though Castillo is currently listed as his backup, there is a good chance that he will be traded before the season begins. David Ross has been brought over to be Jon Lester's personal catcher, too.

Devin Mesoraco was long viewed as a top offensive catcher, but he had underachieved with the Reds before 2014. He finally broke through, however, hitting 25 home runs while batting .273. He has quietly developed into one of the Reds' most feared bats.

Yadier Molina is one of the best catchers to ever play, but last season was a struggle for the all-time great. Though he still was able to win a Gold Glove and bat .282, he has been passed up in his own division. With health concerns, Molina needs to stay on the field to reclaim his crown.

Jonathan Lucroy has seemingly gotten better every year, and he became elite last season. He not only led catchers in almost every statistical category, but he also finished first among position players with a 6.7 WAR. He has a strong bat with an ever-improving throwing arm, and his unmatched ability to receive and frame pitches make him one of the best all-around catchers in all of baseball.
