5 Players Los Angeles Angels Should Send Packing In 2015-16 MLB Offseason

The Angels digressed in 2015 and it should force them to consider moving some players. Here's who should be worried about a possible move.

5. David DeJesus

DeJesus was a good pickup for the Angels during the season when they looked to be in the hunt, but now that the season is over they need to go younger. DeJesus is 35 and managed to hit only .233 in 82 games in 2015. The Angels need younger, more reliable players to come from off their bench. This would help make them more competitive not just immediately, but also in the future.

4. Shane Victorino

The Angels have been a good team, but like the Yankees their key pieces are on the old side. If the Angels want to be more competitive they should start a youth movement (to an extent). Victorino is 34 and has seen his numbers drop the past two years. In 71 games between the Angels and Red Sox, he batted a low .230 with 1 HR and 7 RBIs. Even if he's a bench guy, those aren't appealing stats. It's best the Angels let him go sooner than later.

3. Jered Weaver

Not all the blame can be put on the Angels' offense. In fact, their starting rotation put on mediocre performances throughout the year, especially Jered Weaver. At 33 , Weaver should be in his prime, yet he's coming off a season he went 7-12 with a 4.64 ERA. Weaver has proven to be an average pitcher outside his 2014 campaign. The Angels have plenty of better, younger arms they can plug into the rotation in place of Weaver and save money.

2. Chris Iannetta

If the Angels want their offense to see improvement, they'll need more production from everyone else other than Pujols and Trout. The biggest issue their offense experienced regarded the production from catcher Chris Iannetta. While Iannetta slugged 10 home runs and drove in 34 runs, he batted a mere .188 for the season. The Angels will better off with a catcher who can hit better. With Matt Wieters available, Iannetta becomes more expendable.

The Angels signed Latos towards the end of the regular season. Latos has proven to be a poison to every clubhouse he has been a part of, which can be seen by the fact he was a part of three different teams this past season alone. He did not have nice things to say when he left the Reds last year and it would be in the Angels' best interest to let him walk this offseason and not attempt to re-sign him. The harm he can do outweighs his skills.
