The New York Mets are expected to be without third baseman David Wright for 6-8 weeks due to a herniated disc in his neck, and with first baseman Lucas Duda already out for awhile, they are looking thin at the corner infield spots. If they want to go away from internal options or some re-shuffling of their infield to fill in for Wright, here are five players the Mets could trade for.
5. Kelly Johnson, Atlanta Braves

Johnson spent part of 2015 with the Mets after being acquired from the Braves in July. Going back to that well would not bring big rewards, but the Mets would not have to part with much to get Johnson as Atlanta should be looking to unload him.

Hill is off to a nice start this season, hitting .274 with six home runs and 21 RBIs over 157 at-bats. In the final year of his contract and with some position versatility, the Mets could easily call the Brewers about Hill.

3. Danny Valencia, Oakland Athletics

Valencia has had a very good first two months, with a .346/.380/.579 slash-line, eight home runs and 21 RBIs. He is just the type of asset Oakland's front office would look to sell high on, and the Mets may bite.

2. Yunel Escobar, Los Angeles Angels

It's hard to know what direction the Angels will go between now and the trade deadline, but Escobar stands out as a trade candidate. He's in the final fully guaranteed year of his contract ($1 million buyout in 2017) and playing well (.306, .776 OPS)

1. Trevor Plouffe, Minnesota Twins

Plouffe's lackluster start to 2016 should not obscure the solid four seasons that preceded it. He can also play first base, which should appeal to the Mets even with James Loney recently being acquired to help take Duda's place.
