The Cincinnati Reds are starting to make strides in their rebuilding project this season, especially in the pitching department, but they are still carrying a lot of aging veterans with large contracts that they would like to get off the books. The Reds aren’t likely to make a second-half playoff push this season, which means they will be sellers at the trade deadline. When the time comes, here are five players Cincinnati may be looking to trade this summer.

Billy Hamilton — There's no pressing need to trade Hamilton, but the Reds may want to move on from him nonetheless. His inconsistency can be frustrating, and while he has great speed, he doesn't have the OBP to be a reliable leadoff hitter.

Joey Votto — Votto can still hit and has plenty of power, so a team that needs a first baseman could be interested. However, he is owed a ton of money, as the 32-year-old is under contract through 2023, which could make him difficult to move.

Brandon Phillips — The Reds would have to eat a lot of his remaining contract, but there's a chance they could trade Phillips. It's possible a contending team will have interest in him, and the Reds could plug Jose Peraza into his spot this year and beyond.

Zack Cozart — Cozart could be a building block, but he's only under team control through 2017 and could be at peak trade value. The Reds could trade him for something substantial and give Jose Peraza a tryout at shortstop the rest of the season.

Jay Bruce — Bruce is quite tradable, as he can become a free agent after this year with a $1 million buyout, so he'd make for a great rental piece. He's also having the best season of his career, so the Reds could get a lot if they trade him to a contender.
