It’s widely taught that MLB players take the shortest route to the ball in trying to make a catch, but Los Angeles Angels outfielder Cameron Maybin doesn’t ascribe to that way of thinking.
And after the way he danced around near the wall prior to making this home run-robbing grab on Seattle Mariners batter Guillermo Heredia, maybe his way should be the new technique.

Whether he lost the ball in the lights or not, the nonchalance with which he made the grab after shuffling around at the wall was astonishing.
Perhaps this type of relaxed approach would aid teams in coaching their guys up to make clutch catches.
