They may not have bounced off of the outfielders’ heads, but that’s about the only reason why the pair of blooper-reel home runs surrendered by the Detroit Tigers to Cleveland Indians third baseman Jose Ramirez aren’t the worst in history.
The first was a real doozy that bounced twice on the wall prior to being inexplicably swatted over by Tigers outfielder Mikie Mahtook.
Well, that’s a new one.
Then came a strange-looking homer that bounced up at the top of the wall and was signaled as a round-tripper by the umpire.

All in all, Ramirez went 5-for-5 on the day with three doubles and these two home runs.
That made him just the 11th player in MLB history to have five extra-base hits in one game.
Thanks, Tigers.
