James Thompson is probably best known as the guy whose ear exploded when he fought Kimbo Silce, costing him a victory (he’s also known for his primary training method of watching a lot of DVDs). Last night, “The Colossus” fought Mariusz Pudizianowski on Pudzian’s home turf. For those who don’t know, Pudzian is a 5 time World’s Strongest Man winner who started fighting MMA in 2009. Going into this fight, he was 3-2 with one of his losses being to former UFC heavyweight champion Tim Sylvia. All of his fights except the Sylvia fight have taken place in Poland at KSW. Thompson had previously beaten Pudzian by submission.
So Thompson and Pudzian go at it for 2 rounds. KSW rules generally have fights going 2 rounds, but if the rounds have been split they go to an overtime round. That’s basically what you would have expected here, but the judges rendered a majority decision for Pudzian. Here’s the fight in its entirety:
Afterwards, Thompson took the mic and went off on the promoter. A warning that this tirade is definitely not safe for work and should definitely not be heard by children or the easily offended:

A lot of Thompson’s fights it seems like he’s just a guy brought in to lose…and often in really sketchy manners.

He always does seem genuinely pissed at the verdicts though…
He should have won that Kimbo fight by stoppage, and then his ear explodes and they stop the fight to get Kimbo a win.
