The injury plague strikes the UFC again. This time it is newcomer Roger Hollett who was forced to pull out of his UFC debut against Matt Hamill. It was announced via Twitter that the veteran Vladimir Matyushenko will step in to replace Hollett.
Injuries have been a huge impact on UFC cards this year. This is the second fighter on the UFC 152 card that has been forced to withdraw from his fight. Earlier this month it was announced that Rory MacDonald had withdrawn from his fight with BJ Penn. This resulted in both fighters being pulled from the card.
Matt Hamill will be returning to the octagon after announcing his retirement a year ago. Hamill had a 9-4 record in the UFC before deciding to retire. Hamill is a powerful wrestler with improved stand-up, he has some notable wins over Mark Munoz,Tito Ortiz and Keith Jardine.
Matyushenko is a veteran when it comes to MMA. Matyushenko is 41 years old and is one of the oldest fighters on the active roster. Some refer to him as a UFC Gate keeper but he has shown he can still keep up to the young guns. He has solid stand-up and can surprise fighters if they doubt his skill or abilities.
Hopefully this is the last of the injuries for the UFC 152 card. Dana White and matchmaker Joe Silva have done an excellent job this year keeping fans entertained, despite the numerous bouts that have been cancelled due to injuries.
