Leslie Smith is going to fight after all.

When Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker announced that Cat Zingano, who was supposed to face Smith at Invicta FC 3, was set to face Amanda Nunes at Strikeforce: Melendez vs. Healy earlier in the week, Smith seemed to be without an opponent for the event. However, ‘The Peacemaker’ will now face Kim ‘Killer’ Conor-Hamby at Invicta FC 3, October 6.

Connor-Hamby is undefeated with a record of 4-0, with her first three fights ending in a TKO. She is also a professional boxer with a record of 10-2-2 with four knockouts.

Although Connor-Hamby has an unblemished MMA record, Leslie Smith will no doubt be a challenge for the ‘Killer’. She is coming off of a fight of the night fight of the year in my opinion–an epic performance against Kaitlin Young that ended in a draw back in April at Invicta FC 1.

Smith’s overall record stands 3-2-1 with an impressive 3-0 record as an amateur. Both of her losses against Ediane Gomes and Kerry Vera were by decision.

This is not the only change to the Invicta FC 3 card in the last week. Gomes steps in for Taylor Stratford to face undefeated prospect Katalina Malungahu while former Strikeforce champion Sarah Kaufman will fight HOOKnSHOOT Women’s Grand Prix champion Kaitlin Young.

As with many of the fights on the Invicta FC 3 card, the match between ‘Killer’ and ‘The Peacemaker’ will an exciting battle, particularly in the stand up. Both fighters have the stand up skills and the motivation to win. Smith also trains with Cesar Gracie, which could give her the advantage on the ground.

Defeating Smith would give Connor-Hamby the biggest of her career while a win for ‘The Peacemaker’ would help take her career to the next level.
