A middleweight bout is expected to take place at UFC on Fox 7 between Francis Carmont and Lorenz Larkin. This news come via Dan Alegria and his Twitter feed.
Riverside native Lorenz Larkin @da_MONSOON, will make his @ufc debut against Francis Carmont on the@ufconfox card from San Jose on April 20
Both of these fighters are coming off impressive victories, and they have the chance to project themselves up in the rankings in this ever changing middleweight landscape. Francis Carmont comes into this fight off a strategic striking battle with Tom Lawlor. It was a narrow victory, but a win nonetheless. He is now 4-0 in the UFC.
Carmont currently trains with the Tristar gym, which is the training camp of George St. Pierre. Carmont’s striking has vastly improved since joining the UFC, and he is a huge middleweight. Training with GSP on a daily basis doesn’t hurt his grappling skills either, so it’s only a matter of time before Carmont is in the mix in this division.
Lorenz Larkin comes into this fight from the Strikeforce banner. His latest victory was over Robbie Lawlor, which showcased his exceptional wrestling abilities and his willingness to adapt on the fly. He has power in his hands, making him a tough outing for any fighter matched up against him.
A win for Larkin would be huge for his career as this is the first time that Larkin will be fighting under the UFC. Often times, fighters do not live up to their potential in their UFC debut, but Larkin seems more than prepared for this bout.
