UFC on Fox 7 featured a compelling lightweight bout between TUF contestants Ramsey Nijem and Myles Jury. Both fighters are known for their well-rounded games, but it was Jury who claimed victory. Coming into this fight, Jury sported an undefeated 11-0 record, and showed exceptional grappling/stand up skills on The Ultimate Fighter.
He was also coming off an impressive win over Michael Johnson, proving he can hang with the best of them in the lightweight division. In the first round, Nijem and Jury battled it out on the ground. Both were able to gain superior positions, and it looked like this was going to be a strategic war.
However, in the second round, Jury was able to land a viscous right hand, which sent Nijem out and to the canvas. This was Jury’s most impressive win inside the UFC, and he is getting better with each fight. Now 12-0 in his fighting career, Jury will look to move up in this highly competitive lightweight division. His stand up game has improved by leaps and bounds since fighting on TUF, and he is a force to be reckoned with when the fight hits the ground.
Potential fights for Jury that would suite him nicely in terms of his career include Edson Barboza, Donald Cerrone, Ryan Couture, or even Evan Dunham. All of these fighters have name recognition, which would cement Jury as a top contender in the division if he is able to come out victorious.
