Conor McGregor has taken UFC by storm over the past few years with his incredible fighting skills and brash personality. Mystic Mac knows how to get a rise out of people, and never refrains from doing so when he has something on his mind.
This afternoon, McGregor sent the UFC world into a frenzy by announcing his retirement on Twitter.
I have decided to retire young.
Thanks for the cheese.

McGregor’s coach, John Kavanagh, posted a tweet in reaction to the announcement.
Well was fun while it lasted

Naturally, UFC aficionados still don’t believe it, and are responding in a hilarious manner.

Even Houston Astros pitcher Lance McCullers Jr. is having a difficult time with the news that McGregor has sideswiped us with.

Fox Sports Radio’s Colin Cowherd believes the announcement could have something to do with a developing rift between McGregor and UFC president Dana White.
McGregor is expected to have a rematch with Nate Diaz at UFC 200 in July. This could just be a marketing tactic McGregor has orchestrated in order to drum up additional interest in the event this summer. It’s hard to imagine the Irish superstar would elect to retire at just 27 years old considering he’s essentially the biggest name in the sport, and stands to continue making a fortune over the next few years.
Stay tuned, folks. This story isn’t going away anytime soon.
