There’s still no word on if McGregor actually retired, but UFC President Dana White was on SportsCenter on Tuesday evening to announce that the UFC was pulling McGregor from the UFC 200 main event because he refused to attend a pre-fight press conference in Las Vegas to promote the fight.
White said that he is currently working on a replacement main event. He won’t be able to find two better promoters than Nate Diaz and McGregor for the fight which means the company will likely lose out on some money as a result.
There has to be something else going on that’s not been released. It’s not like McGregor to back out of a fight. Even if it’s a monetary disagreement, you’d think that the two sides could’ve worked something out. It’ll be interesting to hear more details as they become available.
