Conor McGregor Issues Statement Following Dana White Pulling Him From UFC 200

In the most shocking sports news in recent memory, UFC fighter Conor McGregor seemingly announced his retirement on Tuesday with one simple tweet.

That tweet sent shockwaves throughout the entire sports world as one of the most dominant fighters had seemingly hung it up during his prime. UFC president Dana White went on SportsCenter later Tuesday night and gave a little clarification on the matter by explaining that he had pulled McGregor from his UFC 200 main event against Nate Diaz because he had refused to promote the fight.

While that helped clarify why McGregor and the UFC were at odds, it didn’t tell us whether McGregor was actually retiring.

After nearly 48 hours of silence, McGregor has finally given us an answer through a statement that was just released.

While McGregor’s argument makes sense, I highly doubt White changes his stance because if he were to make one exception for McGregor, then he’d have to do it for everyone. It’s great to know that McGregor’s not retiring, but it remains to be seen if he will actually end up fighting Diaz on July 9.
