FOX Sports’ Colin Cowherd dropped a bit of a bombshell on Monday when he claimed on his show that the heavily rumored fight between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Conor McGregor is now a done deal.
“My intel is Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather is going to happen. It changed late last week… got a call then somebody else sent me something yesterday and Saturday… we’ve booked rooms in Vegas,” announced Cowherd.
Cowherd followed that news up by saying that a date has already been set for the fight as well, which he says will happen on Sept. 17. He also said the official announcement will happen sometime in the next two weeks.
Here’s the video from Cowherd’s show:
This would be an absolutely stunning development if it’s true. I don’t think anyone actually believed that Mayweather and McGregor would ever meet in a boxing ring, let alone having it happen in the next four months. It would be an amazing event and I believe the majority of people are selling McGregor short. He may be at a massive disadvantage, but no one works harder than he does. He’s not going to take this fight to embarrass himself.
Mayweather better not take McGregor lightly.
