Intangibles: Upshaw displays amazing intangibles bringing a variety of unique attributes.
Tackling Machine: Upshaw displays outstanding tackling ability. Upshaw can tackle players stopping them flat in their tracks.
Pass Rusher: Upshaw can be a very effective pass rusher. Upshaw registered 7.5 sacks as a senior and 7 sacks as a junior.
Run Stuffer: Upshaw anchors an Alabama defense that is #1 in run defense. Upshaw is not the only individual.
Coverage Ability: Upshaw is a good pass defender. He can play man, zone, or press when dropping back in coverage. Alabama has the #1 pass defense. Upshaw’s coverage disabling some of the short and medium passes really makes the Crimson Tide secondaries job a lot easier.

Potential: Upshaw has the potential to be a complete 3-4 outside linebacker in the mold of a Von Miller. Upshaw could propel up draft boards just like Von Miller if he gets a Senior Bowl invite and domnates.

My thoughts on Courtney Upshaw
Upshaw is a 3-4 only player. He does not have the versatility to play 3-4 and a 4-3 like Von Miller. Upshaw does have the ability to be a complete linebacker like Von Miller when it comes to intangibles though. When I see Courtney Upshaw I think of Von Miller with less versatility or a poor mans Derrick Thomas.
