2012 NFL Mock Draft
Kirby Lee-US PRESSWIRE

Colt McCoy defeated the Ohio State Buckeyes in the 2009 Fiesta Bowl as a junior before getting selected by Cleveland in the 2010 NFL Draft.  Could the Colt McCoy regime be coming to an end in 2012?  Read my 3 round mock to find out.  To interact on picks email me at [email protected]

Round 1

1. Indianapolis Colts 0-12 Andrew Luck Quarterback Stanford Junior Redshirt The Colts are taking Luck if they get the top pick.  Luck has already stated he is going pro after this season.

St. Louis Rams 2-10 Matt Kalil Left Tackle USC Junior Redshirt Both the Rams and Vikings are 2-10 and out of the playoff hunt.  There is speculation that Matt Kalil will return for his senior season at USC.  Kalil then told the LA Times that he has not decided yet.  I’m leaving Kalil in my mock draft for now because he has a month to make his decision.

Matt Kalil should reach a decision by next week.  Matt Barkley the USC quarterback did not get invited to be a Heisman Finalist after posting better stats than Andrew Luck in 2011.  I get a strong feeling that Barkley’s decision will render on Kalil staying at USC or going pro.

3. Minnesota Vikings 2-10 Morris Claiborne Cornerback LSU Junior Claiborne would make an excellent field cornerback.  Antoine Winfield is getting too old and injury prone to be a field cornerback.  Winfield needs to move to a boundary role against secondary receivers.

Claiborne could cover primary receivers with Winfield covering the 2nd receivers.  Minnesota would have a formidable defense with a top notch sack unit and top notch run defense.

4. Jacksonville Jaguars 3-9 Quinton Coples Right End North Carolina Senior Coples is the best player available.  The Jaguars need a pass rushing right end who can make opposing left tackles on offense quiver in fear.

Neither Jeremy Mincey or Matt Roth is capable of being that guy.  That’s why Jacksonville needs Coples.

5. Washington Redskins 4-8 Matt Barkley Quarterback USC Junior Washington needs to elect a quarterback in the 2012 NFL Draft.   I would not be using this pun if Washington drafted a quarterback in 2010 or 2011.  Washington failed to draft a quarterback then and 2012 is an election year.

Matt Barkley is the top quarterback available so he is the 5th pick here.  I could also see Robert Griffin III being the pick here.  I think Barkley ends up being the pick if he declares as a junior forgoing his senior year.

6. Carolina Panthers 4-8 Luke Kuechly Right Outside Linebacker Boston College Junior Carolina has a strong indication of interest with adding a defensive player here.

Luke Kuechly could play right outside linebacker in a 4-3 or be used as a 2nd 3-4 middle linebacker next to Jon Beason.

Dan Conner is in a contract year and Carolina jupst payed Beason a monster deal that runs through 2018.  I cannot see Conner coming back to Carolina even after a great season where he filled in for Jon Beason in Carolina.

Ron Rivera wants to run a combination of 4-3 and 3-4 plays before eventually transferring to a 3-4 once all the pieces for a 3-4 defense are in place.  Carolina adds another potential 3-4 piece with this pick here.

7. Cleveland Browns 4-8 Robert Griffin III Quarterback Baylor Junior Redshirt Robert Griffin III is my 5th best available player.  He provides amazing value at this point.  The Cleveland Browns have to take a quarterback here if Matt Barkley or Robert Griffin III.  After Barkley and Griffin III there is a huge drop off in elite quarterback talent

Landry Jones of Oklahoma has thrown 0 touchdowns and 5 picks in his last 3 games.  The earliest I would take Jones is the 4th round.  People are saying Jones is a project with huge potential.  I see 3rd string potential at best when I watch Jones.  Jones has Roger Staubach’s physical tools and Kyle Boller’s mental attributes which is a huge red flag if your asking me.  Someone probably will reach for Jones, but I’m leaving Landry out of this mock because I think its in his best interest to return to Oklahoma next fall.  Landry probably will go pro though because Blake Bell seems like a threat to win Oklahoma’s starting job next fall.

8. Miami Dolphins 4-8 Jonathan Martin Right Tackle Stanford Junior Redshirt Jonathan Martin has the ability to start at left tackle.  People do think Martin would make a better fit at right tackle.  Jake Long and Jonathan Martin can create a bookened tandem to protect Matt Moore assuming Miami cannot draft a quarterback.

9. Philadelphia Eagles 4-8 Justin Blackmon Wide Receiver Oklahoma State Junior Redshirt The Eagles have 2 receivers with the ability to perform like a #1 flanker target with DeSean Jackson and Jeremy Maclin.

The Eagles want to part ways with DeSean Jackson.  Justin Blackmon of Oklahoma State would be considered a bargain by some at this value.  The Eagles have to take Oklahoma State’s Justin Blackmon to pair up with next to Jeremy Maclin if they pick this high.

10. Tampa Bay Buccaneers 4-8 Trent Richardson Running Back Alabama Junior Tampa Bay could have an excellent 1 2 punch with Trent Richardson and LeGarrette Blount at running back.  Having thunder lightning tandem with Richardson and Blount would keep Josh Freeman from throwing so many turnovers.

11. Arizona Cardinals 5-7 David DeCastro Right Guard Stanford Junior Redshirt The Arizona Cardinals need offensive line help everywhere.  DeCastro is the top offensive lineman available.

This pick will come down to Arizona wanting a good offensive tackle with great potential or an elite right guard prospect.

Arizona can get the offensive tackle later which prompts me to believe Arizona should pursue the elite guard now.

12. Kansas City Chiefs 5-7 Riley Reiff Left Tackle Iowa Junior Redshirt Kansas City finally adds their replacement for Branden Albert at left tackle.  Riley Reiff would make an excellent left tackle for the Kansas City Chiefs.

13. Seattle Seahawks 5-7 Brandon Thompson Defensive Tackle Clemson Senior Seattle needs a defensive tackle.  Brandon Thompson is the best player available at this point.

14. Buffalo Bills 5-7 Michael Floyd Wide Receiver Notre Dame Senior Michael Floyd is a wide receiver that the Bills have taken a huge liking to.  Floyd would be a great addition to pair up with Stevie Johnson.

15. San Diego Chargers 5-7 Dre Kirkpatrick Cornerback Alabama Junior Quinton Jammer really struggles.  Dre Kirkpatrick could start out as a boundary corner across from Jammer before taking over as the #1 field cornerback in a few years.

This would be a perfect situation for Dre Kirkpatrick because he would eventually become the #1 corner without being rushed into the lineup.

16. New York Giants 6-6 Zach Brown Right Outside Linebacker North Carolina Senior The Giants need a right outside linebacker.  Zach Brown can make a really strong case for being a top 16 pick with his recent play and strong finish to North Caroina’s 2011 season.

17. Tennessee Titans 7-5 Brandon Jenkins Right End Florida State Junior Brandon Jenkins can be utilized as a pass rushing sack artist or a run stuffing defensive end.  Jenkins could play right end with Derrick Morgan playing left end.  This would enable the Titans to generate a lot of pressure on the quarterback.

18. Cincinnati Bengals from Oakland Raiders 7-5 Montee Ball Running Back Wisconsin Junior Montee Ball would be a great fit for the Bengals here.  Cincinnati needs a running back for when Benson is gone.

19. New York Jets 7-5 Courtney Upshaw 3-4 Right Outside Linebacker Alabama Senior Courtney Upshaw seems like the pass rusher that Rex Ryan wants on his team.  I have a hard time believing that Upshaw makes it past the Jets.

20. Detroit Lions 7-5 Vontaze Burfict Left Outside Linebacker Arizona State Junior Detroit needs an upgrade at left outside linebacker.  Vontaze Burfict can be a complete linebacker if he stays out of trouble.

Jim Schwartz usually takes the best available player.  Burifct would be that best available player for Detroit here.

21. Cleveland Browns from Atlanta Falcons 7-5 Alshon Jeffery Wide Receiver South Carolina Junior Alshon Jeffery is a great pick at this point.  Jeffery could be the Browns #1 receiving target for Robert Griffin III.

22. Cincinnati Bengals 7-5 Janoris Jenkins Cornerback Northern Alabama Senior Janoris Jenkins would make a great boundary corner next to Leon Hall.  This would enable Nate Clements to move to a nickel role which would suit him better.

23. Chicago Bears 7-5 Dwayne Allen Tight End Clemson Junior Redshirt Dwayne Allen has recorded 8 receiving touchdowns in 2011.  Allen is going to have a monster combine.  Chicago needs a tight end and Dwayne Allen is the top tight end on the draft board.

24. Denver Broncos 7-5 Alfonzo Dennard Cornerback Nebraska Senior Alfonzo Dennard could start out on the bench behind Champ Bailey and Andre Goodman.

Dennard would start out as the nickel cornerback coming in as a 3rd corner to cover slot receivers.  Over time Dennard could become a boundary cornerback for Denver.

I do not see a field cornerback with Dennard because he mainly plays man coverage while struggling in zone coverage sometimes.

25. Pittsburgh Steelers 9-3 Barrett Jones Right Guard Alabama Junior Pittsburgh takes offensive players in even numbered draft years.  Right guard is Pittsburgh’s main offensive need.

Jones played right guard in 2010 at Alabama before moving to left tackle in 2011.  Jones could play a similar role in Pittsburgh and take over at left tackle when Max Starks begins to decline due to aging.

26. Dallas Cowboys 7-5 Chase Thomas 3-4 Left Outside Linebacker Stanford Junior Redshirt Dallas needs a 3-4 left outside linebacker to replace Anthony Spencer.  Spencer will request a lot of money and Dallas will likely part ways with Spencer.

Chase Thomas has been used as a 3-4 right outside linebacker and a 3-4 left outside linebacker.  Thomas has lined up against left and right tackles.

Thomas can generate sacks or stop the run.  Thomas reminds me of Clay Matthews coming out of USC a few years ago.

27. Houston Texans 9-3 DJ Fluker Right Tackle Alabama Sophomore Redshirt Houston needs a new left guard.  Houston could really kill two birds with one stone by drafting DJ Fluker if he opts to leave school early as a sophomore redshirt.

DJ Fluker could start at right tackle with Eric Winston moving inside to left guard.  This would make Houston’s already formidable offensive line even more dangerous in 2012.

28. New England Patriots from New Orleans Saints 9-3 TJ McDonald Free Safety USC Junior The New England Patriots love two way safeties.  TJ McDonald is the top safety available.  McDonald also fits Belicheck’s mold when it comes to free safety prospects.

29. Baltimore Ravens 9-3 Manti Te’o 3-4 Middle Linebacker Notre Dame Junior Baltimore will need a 3-4 middle linebacker when Ray Lewis retries.  Manti Te’o is a steal at this point.

30. San Francisco 49ers 10-2 Melvin Ingram 3-4 Left End South Carolina Senior Redshirt Melvin Ingram would make an excellent 3-4 left end across from Justin Smith.

31. New England Patriots 9-3 Andre Branch Right End Clemson Senior Redshirt Andre Branch can play in a 4-3 or a 3-4.  Andre Branch could sit behind Andre Carter on New England’s 4-3 plays.

Branch could come in and start when New England decides to operate some 3-4 plays.

32. Green Bay Packers 12-0 Whitney Mercilus 3-4 Right Outside Linebacker Illinois Junior Redshirt Whitney Mercilus was mainly used as a run stuffer prior to this season.  Mercilus can go up against left tackles or right tackles.

Mercilus led the nation with 14.5 sacks.  Mercilus is leaning on going pro at this point.  Mercilus would make a great 3-4 right outside linebacker across from Clay Matthews.

Round 2

33. Indianapolis Colts 0-12 Audie Cole Left Outside Linebacker North Carolina State Senior Redshirt Audie Cole is going to propel up draft boards with his senior bowl performance.  The Colts need a starting 4-3 left outside linebacker.

The Colts linebackers are weak in 2011 with Pat Angerer starting at middle linebacker.  In 2012 Angerer would play right outside linebacker, Gary Brackett would play in the middle with Cole starting on the left side.

I have Cole graded out as my 32nd best player on my top 50 draft board.  When your teams record is 0-12 you have to keep taking the best players available hoping to plug in holes on your roster by taking the best players available.

The Colts double dipped at offensive tackle so the Colts use their day 2 picks to focus on defense with most of the playmakers in place on offense built around Andrew Luck.

34. Minnesota Vikings 2-10 Mohammed Sanu Wide Receiver Rutgers Junior Mohammed Sanu would make a great secondary receiver across from Percy Harvin.  Ponder will have Harvin, Sanu, Shancoe, and Kyle Rudolph to throw to with all of these receiving targets.

35. St. Louis Rams 2-10 Fletcher Cox Defensive Tackle Mississippi State Junior Fletcher Cox would really help make the Rams a complete defensive line.  The Rams have the defensive ends with Robert Quinn and Chris Long.  The Rams need a defensive tackle to solidify the offense.

36. Jacksonville Jaguars 3-9 Stephon Gilmore Cornerback South Carolina Junior Stephon Gilmore could start out as a boundary corner.  Gilmore plays man, zone, and blitzes well.

Gilmore could eventually succeed Rashead Mathis as a field cornerback for the Jacksonville Jaguars.

37. Carolina Panthers 4-8 Chase Minnifield Cornerback Virginia Senior Redshirt Chase Minnifield is the son of Frank Minnifield.  The Panthers need a boundary corner across from Chris Gamble.

Over time, Minnifeld could jump Chris Gamble as the field cornerback on the Carolina Panthers roster.

38. Cleveland Browns 4-8 Chris Polk Running Back Washington Junior Redshirt Cleveland may need a new starting running back if Peyton Hillis pulls a LeBron James.

39. Miami Dolphins 4-8 Tyler Wilson Quarterback Arkansas Junior Redshirt Miami will need a new quarterback for the new regime.  Tyler Wilson could be an intriguing 2nd round option if he wants to declare.

40. Philadelphia Eagles 4-8 Dontari Poe Defensive Tackle Memphis Junior The Eagles need to add another defensive tackle to boost their run defense.  Poe is 6 foot 5 350 pounds.  He could play in a 4-3 or a 3-4 scheme.  Poe would make an excellent value pick if the Eagles draft him here.

41. Tampa Bay Buccaneers 4-8 Nico Johnson Right Outside Linebacker Alabama Junior Nico Johnson can be used as a 3-4 or a 4-3 linebacker anywhere at linebacker.

42. Washington Redskins 4-8 Donta Hightower 3-4 Middle Linebacker Alabama Junior Redshirt The Redskins need a 3-4 middle linebacker.  London Fletcher is starting to age getting past his prime.

Hightower is the best available player at this spot.  Hightower would make an excellent draft selection here.

43. Kansas City Chiefs 5-7 Robert Lester Free Safety Alabama Junior Redshirt The Chiefs need a free safety.  Robert Lester is the best free safety worth drafting int the 2nd round if he decides to declare.

44. Seattle Seahawks 5-7 Mark Barron Strong Safety Alabama Senior Seattle drafts Barron as a strong safety to compete with Kam Chancellor for a starting strong safety job.

45. Buffalo Bills 5-7 Winston Guy Jr. Strong Safety Kentucky Senior Winston Guy Jr. looked dominant against Tennessee.  I think Winston Guy Jr. is going to have a breakout senior bowl game which propels him up to this draft selection despite being undersized.

46. San Diego Chargers 5-7 Alameda Ta’amu Nose Tackle Washington Senior Alameda Ta’amu would make an awesome addition at nose tackle for the Chargers.  The Chargers could use upgrades everywhere on the defensive line.  Ta’amu is the best player available here so your rally cannot

47. Philadelphia Eagles from Arizona Cardinals 5-7 Michael Brewster Center Ohio State Senior Philadelphia could use a starting center.  Michael Brewster is the top center available so Brewster is the pick here.

48. New York Giants 6-6 Devon Still Defensive Tackle Penn State Senior Redshirt Devon Still is the top player available.  Still would be the top player available so the Giants need to add one more defensive tackle for depth.

49. New England Patriots from Oakland Raiders 7-5 Peter Konz Center Wisconsin Junior Redshirt Peter Konz is a steal at this point.  New England will need a new center with Dan Koppen and Dan Connolly gone.  Konz is the top player aviailable at this point.

50. New York Jets 7-5 Kevin Zeitler Right Guard Wisconsin Senior Zeitler needs to be the pick here because he is the best player available.  Zeiler is the final prospect on my top 50 overall.

Teams put a strong importance on drafting the best available players in the first two rounds.  There is even a bigger importance when the player is a projected top 50 pick.

51. Detroit Lions 7-5 Ricky Wagner Left Tackle Wisconsin Junior Redshirt Ricky Wagner has pro bowl potential.  He needs 3 years on the bench.  Wagner would make a great depth player on the Detroit Lions roster.

Wagner has the versatility to play left tackle or right tackle.  Wagner starts out as a backup right tackle for depth, but eventually converts to left tackle when Jeff Backus retires.

52. Tennessee Titans 7-5 Ray Ray Armstrong Strong Safety Miami FL Junior The Titans need a strong safety to replace Chris Hope.  Ray Ray Armstrong will be the top available here if he declares.

53. Cincinnati Bengals 7-5 Nigel Bradham Left Outside Linebacker Florida State Senior The Browns need a left outside linebacker to start in 2012.  Maybe Nigel Bradham fills in for Manny Lawson at the strong side when Lawson’s contract is up in 2012.

54. Atlanta Falcons 7-5 Tyler Eifert Tight End Notre Dame Junior Notre Dame tight end Tyler Eifert would be an amazing pick for Atlanta here in the 2nd round if Tyler Eifert declares.  Tony Gonzalez needs a successor.  Eifert could be that guy given Notre Dame’s track record for producing NFL tight ends.

55. Chicago Bears 7-5 Ronnell Lewis Left Outside Linebacker Junior The Chicago Bears could use a left outside linebacker on defense.  Ronnell Lewis would be the best player available here.

56. Denver Broncos 7-5 Lamar Miller Running Back Miami FL Sophomore Redshirt I think Lamar Miller is the 4th best back after Trent Richardson, Montee Ball, and Chris Polk.  Some people have Miami’s sophomore redshirt back projected higher.

Adding Lamar Miller to a backfield featuring Willis McGahee and Knowshon Moreno would make Denver’s running game even more lethal than it already is right now.

57. Pittsburgh Steelers 9-3 Jerry Franklin 3-4 Middle Linebacker Arkansas Senior Redshirt Jerry Franklin can be used as a 3-4 middle linebacker or a 3-4 right outside linebacker who could be a successor to James Harrison.

Franklin can be added as a depth player at 3-4 outside linebacker and 3-4 inside linebacker.  If Stevenson Sylvester struggles as a full time starter in 2012 then Franklin could start across from Timmons on the inside in 2013.

58. Dallas Cowboys 7-5 Nate Potter Left Guard Boise State Senior Redshirt Dallas needs interior offensive lineman.  Nate Potter is the top left guard available and left guard is the most important position on the interior offensive line.

59. New Orleans Saints 9-3 Travis Lewis Right Outside Linebacker Oklahoma Senior Redshirt Travis Lewis can perform like a pro bowler when he is healthy.  The problem is Lewis has durability issues and an ego that gives teams the wrong impression.  The Saints have little draft needs and the luxury to take a flyer on Lewis.

60. Houston Texans 9-3 Kendall Wright Wide Receiver Baylor Senior Kevin Walter and Jacoby Jones are great additional receiving options besides Andre Johnson.  Wright can be added to the roster starting out on the slot.

Over time Wright could become the Texans #2 receiver across from Andre Johnson.  I do not see a true #1 target in Baylor’s Kendall Wright.  I feel like Wright is the best receiver available.

61. Baltimore Ravens 9-3 Delano Howell Free Safety Stanford Senior Delano Howell is a two way safety who can be used as a center fielder.  Howell is a perfect candidate to succeed Ed Reed in Baltimore.

62. San Francisco 49ers 10-2 Vinny Curry 3-4 Left Outside Linebacker Marshall Senior Vinny Curry would be another great addition to a 49ers pass rushing unit that is already lethal as it stands.

With Curry I see a 3-4 only pass rusher who could excel in a depth role against right tackles.  The 49ers can put Curry in that role as a rookie with their depth of pass rushers on the front 7.

63. New England Patriots 9-3 Desmond Trufant Cornerback Washington Junior New England has drafted a cornerback in the first two rounds every year since 2008.  That’s not changing now considering New England’s dire need to upgrade at cornerback.

64. Green Bay Packers 12-0 Jayron Hosley Cornerback Virginia Tech Junior Jayron Hosley was once a top 10 pick.  Hosley didn’t play against Clemson which hurt his draft stock.

Round 3

65. Indianapolis Colts 0-12 Marcus Forston Defensive Tackle Miami FL Junior Redshirt Marcus Forston is a great defensive tackle for depth.  The Colts need one more defensive tackle for depth.  Forston can be a solid starter who develops into a pro bowler if his career stays injury free at the next level.

66. St. Louis Rams 2-10 LaMichael James Running Back Oregon Junior Redshirt The Rams need a second running back behind Steven Jackson.  LaMichael James will provide excellent value at this point.

67. Minnesota Vikings 2-10 Mike Adams Left Tackle Ohio State Senior Mike Adams would be a steal if he went in the early 3rd round.  Most 3rd round picks usually do not step in as rookies.  I could see Mike Adams stepping in as a rookie.

68. Jacksonville Jaguars 3-9 Eddie Whitley Free Safety Virginia Tech Senior Eddie Whitley is the best free safety available.  The Jaguars need a starting free safety.

69. Cleveland Browns 4-8 Elvis Fisher Right Tackle Missouri Senior Redshirt The Cleveland Browns need a starting right tackle.  Elvis Fisher was an amazing pass blocker at left tackle when Blaine Gabbert was at Missouri.

Cleveland needs a pass blocking right tackle.  Elvis Fisher would make a great pick for Cleveland here.

70. Miami Dolphins 4-8 Michael Egnew Tight End Missouri Senior The Dolphins need a tight end.  Michael Egnew would really boost the Dolphins passing game at tight end. Anthony Fasano is more of a blocking tight end with Charles Clay playing a blocking tight end role at fullback.

71. Philadelphia Eagles 4-8 Leonard Johnson Cornerback Iowa State Senior Leonard Johnson managed to cover Justin Blackmon in one on one man coverage in the Oklahoma State VS Iowa State.

72. Tampa Bay Buccaneers 4-8 Jerel Worthy Defensive Tackle Michigan State Junior Redshirt Jerel Worthy would not have to play right away plus he would make an awesome depth player for a young Tampa Bay defensive line that will only get better over the years.

73. Washington Redskins 4-8 Nick Toon Wide Receiver Wisconsin Senior Redshirt Matt Barkley gets a #1 flanker target with Nick Toon.  Leonard Hankerson could emerge into a secondary target in 2012.  With Fred Davis playing well at tight end, Matt Barkley would have the playmakers to throw to in Washington.

74. Chicago Bears from Carolina Panthers 4-8 Cordy Glenn Right Guard Georgia Senior Cordy Glenn would make a legit player for depth on the offensive line.  Glenn is best used as a run blocker.  Chicago needs a right guard and Cordy Glenn is available for Chicago in round 3.

75. Seattle Seahawks 5-7 Chandler Harnish Quarterback Northern Illinois Senior Redshirt Ryan Tannehill threw 3 picks against a Texas secondary that lost 3 corners.  Tannehill looks like a day 3 pick after that game.

Chandler Harnish, Kirk Cousins, and Russell Wilson are 3 3rd round wild cards who could move up draft boards.

Chandler Harnish trailed the Ohio Bobcats 20 to 0 in the MAC Championship before orchestrating an excellent comeback against Ohio to win the MAC Title after losing to Miami Ohio in 2010.

Chandler Harnish helped Northern Illinois win 23 to 20 in the MAC Championship after Ohio had the 20 to 0 lead.

Seattle will need a developmental quarterback if they cannot land someone in the first two rounds.  Harnish would be an amazing addition with this pick.

76. Buffalo Bills 5-7 Bruce Irvin 3-4 Right Outside Linebacker West Virginia Senior The Buffalo Bills  need a pass rusher.  Bruce Irvin is the best pass rusher available who would fit nicely into Buffalo’s 3-4 scheme.  The Bills need two pass rushers, but Irvin really fits the bill here.

77. San Diego Chargers 5-7 Brandon Lindsey 3-4 Right Outside Linebacker Pittsburgh Senior Redshirt The Chargers need a 3-4 right outside linebacker.  Shaun Phillips is a 3-4 left outside linebacker.  The Chargers have lacked that pass rusher that gave left tackles fits since Meriman left the Chargers.

Brandon Lindsey of Pittsburgh is an amazing pick here.  Lindsey can be used as a 4-3 defensive end or a 3-4 outside linebacker.

78. Arizona Cardinals 5-7 Oday Aboushi Left Tackle Virginia Junior Virginia has a tendency of producing left tackles.  DeBrickishaw Ferguson in 2006.  Left guard Branden Albert who moved to left guard in the NFL and then Eugene Monroe in 2009.

Aboushi is a 3rd round prospect for 2012 and he could surge up draft boards if he declares.

Aboushi could soar as high as the late first round range if everything goes well.  Aboushi would be a good pick if he is available here in the event that Arizona takes David DeCastro 11th overall.

79. Kansas City Chiefs 5-7 Matt Reynolds Right Tackle BYU Senior Redshirt Matt Reynolds would serve as an excellent bookend to Riley Reiff on Kansas City’s offensive line.

80. New York Giants 6-6 Donnie Fletcher Cornerback Boston College Senior The New York Giants are losing some cornerbacks to free agency.  Donnie Fletcher went to Boston College.  The Giants may take a liking to Donnie Fletcher before eventually selecting him with this pick.

81. New York Jets 7-5 Bobby Massie Right Tackle Ole Miss Junior Bobby Massie reminds me of a poor mans Michael Oher.  The Jets need a right tackle so Rex Ryan may take a flyer on Massie in the 3rd round considering the success that Oher had with the Ravens.

82. Detroit Lions 7-5 Ben Jones Center Georgia Senior The Lions will need a replacement at center when the aging Dominic Raiola.  Detroit could get great value with a center like Ben Jones in the 3rd round.

83. Tennessee Titans 7-5 Casey Heyward Cornerback Vanderbilt Senior I think Casey Heyward has a big senior bowl game if he gets an invite.  I also could see him dominating the combine and moving up draft boards.  For now I got Heyward penciled into this selection.

84. Atlanta Falcons 7-5 Levi Adcock Right Guard Oklahoma State Senior Redshirt Atlanta needs a replacement for Sam Baker.  Adcock could move inside to right guard to replace Harvey Dahl who left the Falcons to start at right guard for the Rams.

85. Cincinnati Bengals 7-5 Amini Silatalu Left Guard Midwestern State Senior Redshirt The Bengals need a left guard.  Silatalu would be a great selection at this point.  Silatalu is a small school prospect who may garner a top 100 pick if he plays well enough.

86. Chicago Bears 7-5 Kirk Cousins Quarterback Michigan State Senior Redshirt Caleb Hanie has struggled.  Nathan Enderle is a backup at best.  The Bears need to draft a quarterback for depth who has the potential to be a starter while filling in as a backup.  That quarterback is Michigan State’s Kirk Cousins.

87. Denver Broncos 7-5 Russell Wilson Quarterback Wisconsin Senior Redshirt Elway will want his own quarterback at some point.  If Russell Wilson earns plays like a day 2 pick then Denver could take a flyer on him in the 3rd round with their final day 3 pick.

88. Pittsburgh Steelers 9-3 Star Lotulelei Nose Tackle Utah Junior Star Lotulelei is a 6 foot 3 325 pound nose tackle who is an underclassmen.  Lotulelei will likely declare.  If this is true then he will be a late 3rd round prospect.

Pittsburgh should target Lotulelei and groom him as a successor to Casey Hampton.

89. Dallas Cowboys 7-5 Kheeston Randall 3-4 Right End Texas Senior Kheeston Randall would make a great 3-4 defensive lineman.  Randall can play 3-4 right end, 3-4 left end, or 3-4 nose tackle.  Randall is a hometown prospect so he makes a lot of sense for Dallas here.

90. Houston Texans 9-3 Josh Chapman Nose Tackle Alabama Senior Redshirt The Texans love nose tackles in the southern region.  I think the Texans are going to draft Josh Chapman at some point.

91. New Orleans Saints 9-3 Trevor Olsen Right Tackle Northern Illinois Senior Redshirt The Saints need a right tackle.  Trevor Olsen is the best offensive tackle at this point.

92. Baltimore Ravens 9-3 Brian Quick Wide Receiver Appalachin State Senior Redshirt Brian Quick is 6 foot 5 220 pounds.  Anquan Boldin and Torrey Smith are both key receivers.  A wide receiver with great size like Brian Quick would be a huge asset to the Baltimore Ravens.

93. San Francisco 49ers 10-2 Jonathan Banks Cornerback Mississippi State Junior Jonathan Banks would be a nice addition to the 49ers secondary at cornerback if he is available with this pick.

94. New England Patriots 9-3 Ryan Miller Right Guard Colorado Senior Redshirt Ryan Miller was teammates with Nate Soldier at Colorado.  The Patriots may need to add a right guard for depth if Marcus Cannon is not ready to play next year.

95. Green Bay Packers 12-0 Jared Crick 3-4 Right End Nebraska Senior Redshirt The Packers need a defensive end who can play the 5 technique.  Jared Crick provides amazing value for the Green Bay Packers if he slips to the end of the 3rd round.
