Welcome NASCAR fans to Rant Sports. This weekend, the Brick Yard 400 is arguably the second or perhaps third biggest race the year. You may read in other places, which driver has a great chance to win, but let me tell you how hard this track is. Sure the usual drivers will be at the top, Jeff Gordon, Tony Stewart, Jimmie Johnson who have won many races here between them. Add in last year’s winner Jamie McMurray and Juan Pablo Montoya who lead the most laps for the last two years. Who knows who will win? Indianapolis speedway is not like any on the NASCAR schedule. Its history is incredible! The pomp and circumstance before and after the race is humbling. It might be said overwhelming, whether in the race or watching. If you can ignore this at the door you might have a chance.

So what is the Brick Yard? It is a relatively flat 2.5 mile track. Daytona is 2.5 miles but not even close to flat. It also is a big rectangle. All of the other tracks of this size are oval. Although, the drivers are still making 4 left hand turns, there actually are some short straight-aways between them. It still is more of a road course than a typical oval. Did I also say it is relatively flat? And fast? So what does this all mean? It is a short track; road course and drafting track none like any in NASCAR.

The driver, his team and his crew chief must be at the top of their game and flawless! So who do you think has a chance?
