Ryan Newman Thinks NASCAR Should Stop Racing At Talladega To Race At Road Course
Ryan Newman has been involved in some scary crashes at the Talladega Super Speedway. Newman isn’t exactly a fan of the track and wants NASCAR to find a new track to race it. In fact, Newman wants to get a third road course race at a track in Birmingham.
“Go to Barber Motorsports Park (in Birmingham) and have a third road-course race. Seriously,” Newman said Thursday at a sponsor event in Charlotte. “To me, that’s the best option.”
“Not everybody wants to see crashing. But there’s a good part of (fans) that want to see that big crash. The Big One.”
So yeah, I do not think this will be a popular idea. Everyone loves Talladega for the action that it provides. My friends that hate NASCAR would watch it more if more tracks like Dega were on the schedule. It is dangerous racing, but it is exciting. Watching guys go 190 MPH in close packs like that is just amazing.
I wonder what the backlash to this idea will be. People get mad when drivers are not open, but sometimes being open can hurt you in the long run. This idea will probably anger some fans and Ryan Newman will have to deal with the backlash.
What is your opinion on this issue? Should the series add more road courses and drop some restrictor plate racing? I know that I want to keep as many races at Dega as possible.
