The 2013 NASCAR season is about a month away, and there is one story that just proves how bad our economy is really doing. Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s No. 88 car is still unsponsored for 13 races this season. If any driver should have sponsors on his car, it is Earnhardt and what shocks me is that there are no companies already lined up to be on the car.
Everyone knows that Earnhardt is one if not the most popular drivers in all of NASCAR, and every fan of his will be watching that car at the Daytona 500 in a few weeks. Those fans then go out and buy from those businesses with their logos on the car to keep the machine going. Right now though, with people struggling for a dollar everywhere, and businesses everywhere having similar problems, I’m not too surprised this is happening.
I’m sure before the race happens in February that someone will come forward to sponsor Earnhardt’s car for those 13 races but for right now, we are left to wonder what will happen. Are we going to see a car that looks very bland with nothing on it? I don’t see any way we will, but this is a situation worth watching over the next couple of months. The biggest thing that fans should worry about right now is getting ready for the season to get underway and the long haul with that in the next nine months that lay ahead.
