5 Things NASCAR Organizations Hope Santa Brings Today

Several race teams were lacking just one big thing that could've meant the difference in winning a championship or being more consistent last season. Here is what is on each of those teams' Christmas wish list today.

Kyle Larson turned in one of the best rookie seasons in NASCAR history and Jamie McMurray started to find some series speed over the season's last 10 weeks or so as well. If the Ganassi cars can find that kind of speed consistently in 2015, there's no reason to think that both McMurray and Larson won't be in the Chase for the Sprint Cup.

Assuming the organization can find the speed it has been lacking over the past couple of seasons, Ricky Stenhouse Jr. and Trevor Bayne will have to grow up in a hurry to get the team where it wants to go. Organization veteran Greg Biffle is a bit of a proven commodity at this point, but Stenhouse, entering his third full season, needs to take a step forward and help rookie Bayne get adjusted.

It really is that simple for Joe Gibbs Racing. Sure, all three drivers (Matt Kenseth, Denny Hamlin, Kyle Busch) made the Chase last year, but the three combined for just two wins and weren't among the fastest cars regularly. Now Carl Edwards is joining and with that stable of drivers, Gibbs is poised to become NASCAR's best team if, and only if, the speed returns.

Whether it was Jeff Gordon's late dustup with Brad Keselowski or Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Jimmie Johnson coming up short at Talladega, it just seemed like Hendrick Motorsports was always on the bad end of some bad luck last year. With a combined 13 wins last season, the organization was obviously strong enough to win yet another title. If the bad breaks quit coming in 2015, look for exactly that to happen.

We know it was a great year for first-time champion Kevin Harvick, but elsewhere was a struggle in the organization. Much of that had to do with off-track issues for Tony Stewart and Kurt Busch. Stewart's involvement in the accidental death of Kevin Ward Jr. resulted in a missed race and the three-time champ was never the same. If both can stay out of headlines and return to form, it could be an even bigger year for the organization.
