Derrick Rose is reportedly nearing a return from tearing his ACL in game one of the NBA playoffs last year in Chicago. The Chicago Bulls have been really up-and-down this year, and as a Bulls fan, I can’t say I’m too surprised by that. What are the Bulls expecting when Rose returns? Are they expecting him to be the MVP? Are they expecting him to take a few weeks to feel normal in game situations? Do they need to make a trade at the deadline to bring in some help? Do they believe they can win without him? All of these questions will be answered in due time.
I believe Rose is going to make a huge impact on this club, and it might not even come from scoring, rebounding, or dishing out assists. I believe the biggest impact is going to be on the team’s morale. Getting your best player back is going to be huge, no doubt. However, the Bulls have learned to play without Rose, and that should be uplifting. The players are going to look at Rose’s return and give them a shot in the arm because they’ve likely seen how much he’s battled, and how hard he’s worked to get back this season.
No matter what happens, I know Bulls fans are chomping at the bit to see Rose return. I can’t wait to see him play with that reckless abandon we’ve come to love here in the windy city. Whether they win anything this year or not, it’s going to be good to see an athlete of Rose’s caliber come back strong from a terrible knee injury.
Only a few more weeks….only a few more weeks.
