Earlier in the regular season, Brandon Jennings claimed that he would prefer to play the Miami Heat in the playoffs rather than the New York Knicks. Despite Miami’s spectacular season, the Milwaukee Bucks‘ point guard still holds onto the delusion that his team can knock out the NBA champions.
According to Milwaukee’s official Twitter, Jennings has now predicted that the Bucks will beat Miami in six games. For all his flaws, Jennings certainly does not lack confidence.
The two teams will enter the playoffs on the opposite sides of the spectrum. Despite resting players, the Heat finished the regular season on an eight-game winning streak, while the Bucks stumbled past the finish line, going 4-12 in their last 16 games.
Despite this, Jennings stays true to his beliefs that his team can pull off what would undoubtedly be one of the biggest, if not the biggest, upsets in NBA postseason history.
When asked about Jennings’ comments, Chris Bosh responded. Via the Sun Sentinel: “”If they already had our attention, now they have more of our attention.”
Milwaukee’s 10th pick of the 2009 draft should probably not have poked the beast. The Heat do not need any more motivation than they already have, and Jennings might just have given the champions some further incentive. However, according to Chris Tomasson’s sulia, Dwyane Wade said that the Heat do not need any headlines or comments to fuel the team. If anything, Wade was understanding of the comments.
“A guy is supposed to have confidence in his team. If you come out and say they’re (the Heat) going to beat us in six then you all think something is wrong with him.” Wade said.
For the time being, talk will remain talk. We will have to wait and see if Jennings can back his statement up Sunday evening.
