Aleksandar Pavlovic Hasn’t Given Portland Trail Blazers Reason To Keep Him

Jaime Valdez-USA TODAY Sports

Aleksandar Pavlovic has been bouncing around the NBA in his nine seasons and made a stop with the Portland Trail Blazers this year.

But, he’s still expected to land somewhere else next season.

Pavlovic was just never able to fit into the Portland lineup. As a guard-forward, he’s 6-foot-7, 235 pounds, but just didn’t have the skills to emerge as a true threat for the Blazers on either side of the ball.

When he was available, Portland — his seventh team — picked him up because it appeared he had plenty to offer. However, he only played in 39 games and started one.

Pavolvic probably wouldn’t mind having the season he enjoyed 2006-07 with the Cleveland Cavaliers when he played in 67 games and started 28 times, averaging 22.9 minutes a game. He also averaged 9.0 points, 2.4 rebounds and 1.6 assists and shot 45.3 percent from the floor that yeah.

It was at that point of his career that Pavlovic seemed to show some promise, but those days are long gone and he tried to find a home at several other places including the Boston Celtics, whom he saw action for the past two seasons before coming to Portland.

Pavlovic averaged 13.5 minutes for the Blazers, plus 2.6 points and 1.4 rebounds, and shot 35.3 percent from the floor. He usually made smart decisions for the team and did a lot more to help out than he did to hurt the Trail Blazers — those guys are sometimes hard to find.

He has enough experience to attract another team looking to fill out its roster. It’s unlikely to be in Portland, however.
