Chauncey Billups is the Key to an Los Angeles Clippers 2013 NBA Finals Run

Gary A. Vasquez-USA TODAY Sports

The Los Angeles Clippers are one of the most fun teams to watch in the NBA. Chris Paul is one of the most explosive passers, and Blake Griffin is a dunking machine. Watching a Clippers game is like watching street ball; they dominated the Memphis Grizzlies in their first two games of the first round of the 2013 NBA Playoffs.

Paul and Griffin are important to the Clippers chances at making it to the NBA Finals, but Chauncey Billups is the player who will determine if they get there.

Billups is a player who just does not show up in some games and plays like an elite NBA player in others. In the first game against Memphis, Billups played extremely well and the Clippers won by 11. In the second game against Memphis, Billups didn’t play well and the Clippers only won by two. His play is key to the success of the Clippers’ offense. The the longer he plays well; the more likely it is that the Clippers may actually have an opportunity to make it to the NBA Finals.

The Clippers are tired of being “that other team in LA” and taking a back seat to Kobe Bryant and the Los Angeles Lakers. This postseason, with the Lakers most likely two games from being knocked out of the playoffs by the San Antonio Spurs, they have that opportunity. Paul, Griffin and Billups must play well if they are to get past the extremely talented Western Conference and into the 2013 NBA Finals.
