For someone who stands at 5-foot-11, Miami (FL) point guard Shane Larkin has done an excellent job proving his worth and potential. Larkin had a terrific season with the Hurricanes, averaging 14.5 points, 4.6 assists and 3.8 rebounds per game for a group that ranked amongst the school’s best in program history. Larkin was the team’s catalyst and after weeks of sitting on the fence in regards to making a decision, the floor general made the decision to enter his name into the 2013 NBA Draft.

Larkin does not have the greatest of size for the NBA, but he does have the flashiness and the ability to create in the back court. At this point, Larkin is looking like a late first round selection, but could potentially dip into the front portion of the second round. It will be interesting to see just what type of fit Larkin finds, especially considering his projection could pin him either with a championship contender or a team looking to rebuild and bolster its roster.

Strengths: Larkin showed flashes of excellence during his time at Miami (FL), but that was at the collegiate level. Larkin can score the basketball in a variety of ways and does a real good job of running a team. He is going to have to make adjustments and take advantage of those strengths to prove he can earn a roster spot at the NBA level.

Weaknesses:  Larkin’s biggest weakness is of course his size. At just 5-foot-11, 176lbs. he is undersized for the NBA. However, that certainly doesn’t mean that he can’t succeed and find a niche with some organization.

Draft Projection: Late First Round
