There will be many decisions made with the roster of the Toronto Raptors between now and the beginning of next season. The first decision is likely going to be about Andrea Bargnani. He is under contract for another two seasons but after having an awful season, he is likely going to be moved. Toronto can’t expect to get much back for Bargnani though, considering his recent history.
Bargnani has played in just 132 games over the last three seasons, or an average of 44 a season. There are obvious health issues with the 7-footer from Italy and after averaging just 12.7 points a game in 35 appearances this season, change is needed.
I think Bargnani can still be a decent player if he can remain healthy. It is going to be up to whatever team wants to take a chance on him to figure out his abilities and where he fits in. I believe that there are going to be many teams who want a player with the talent Bargnani possesses if he can stay on the court.
He can shoot from outside and has made over 36 percent of his 3-point attempts during his seven-year career in Toronto. There will be some team that wants to take a chance on Bargnani and will give the Raptors a second-round pick to make it happen. You would have to think he is worth more than that, but his value is so low right now with the injuries and bad statistics this season that Toronto must take what they can get.
It looks like Bargnani will be looking for a new address next season somewhere outside of Toronto, one way or another.
