It’s been an up and down situation when referring to the draft status of Croatian star forward, Dario Saric.
Saric officially entered his name into the draft pool this past spring and he has all the makings of a first round lock this June. In fact, Saric is warranting enough potential and hype that he could have potentially hear his name called within the lottery portion of this year’s draft.
However, according to a report from BourbonStreetShots.com‘s Michael McNamara, a decision has been made — Saric will withdraw his name from consideration.
It was reported by ESPN‘s Chad Ford on Thursday that Saric was considering the move, but he has until June 17th to officially make a choice. Well, it appears that one has been made as the report from McNamara credits his agent directly. Saric’s agent Robert Jablan sent BourbonStreetShots a statement on Friday morning, stating, “We make decision this morning that we will withdraw Dario from the 2013 draft.”
Saric has been on the fence simply because of the fact that he personally feels he could be even better a year from now. If that is the case, credit Saric for being patient and understanding this is a monumental decision. However with that being said, Saric has lottery potential here in 2013 and it’s a weak draft for the most part. In 2014, the field is expected to be loaded, so just how much will this affect his stock from this year into next?
That much remains to be seen at this time.
Saric’s flip-flop approach though could still change, especially considering the deadline is the 17th. DraftExpress.com voiced their thoughts on this, as well:
Keep in mind that Dario Saric has changed his mind virtually every step of the way along the draft process. Its a strange strange situation.

We will learn more on Saric’s decision soon enough.
