There will be something different in New York Jets training camp for the first time in Rex Ryan‘s NFL head coaching career. Veteran linebacker Bart Scott won’t be there, and now it’s Demario Davis‘s time to shine. The Jets drafted the 24-year-old Davis in the third round of the 2012 draft, and they groomed him [...]
The 2013 season ended the way that pretty much all of the last several years have ended for the San Jose Sharks. It was a year that included some ups and downs in the regular season followed by another playoff disappointment. Sound familiar? But while it was a year that ended with another failure to make [...]
When the Toronto Blue Jays made their big offseason trade with the Miami Marlins, I felt that Jose Reyes was the key as he is the best shortstop this organization has had since Tony Fernandez. But the most interesting player that became a Jay in the deal was starting pitcher Josh Johnson. The big fella [...]
After 19 seasons in the NBA, Jason Kidd decided to call it a career and retire after the 2012-13 season in which the New York Knicks made it to the semifinals of the 2013 NBA Playoffs before falling to the Indiana Pacers. Obviously, Kidd seems like the type of player that would do whatever it [...]
South Carolina Gamecocks‘ head coach Steve Spurrier finally broke his silence and decided to go public with his solution to the SEC’s scheduling conundrum. While his approach would be an excellent compromise, the league would be wise to keep the existing format. The Ol’ Ball Coach’s solution is very simple. It calls for the league [...]

Sure, a few NFL teams located in the United States of America struggle to retain a stout fan base year after year. However, the idea that these less than appealing teams should bolt to London is asinine. NFL commissioner Roger Goodell has made countless efforts to move the game into England, but the rate of [...]
The Pittsburgh Pirates used the No. 1 overall pick in 2011 on right-handed starting pitcher Gerrit Cole, and after pitching at three levels in his first professional season last year he has been on the fast track to the big leagues. Miami Heat’s LeBron James Would Shine in 1980s and 1990s; Dennis Rodman is Delusional
Mike DiNovo-USA TODAY Sports
It seems like whenever players from the 1980s and 1990s speak about LeBron James, the answer is always controversial. For instance, guys like Karl Malone and Scottie Pippen claim James is better than the great Michael Jordan, while morons like Dennis Rodman can’t help but bring the king down.
Honestly, can an NBA-veteran please just give a level-headed critique of this guy?
Comparing Jordan and James is a frightening thing to do in the first place, but Rodman decided to do more than that on Friday. In light of the Miami Heat reaching their third straight NBA Finals, the ex-Chicago Bulls forward was asked about James and offered this idiotic bit to ESPN :
Apparently, the four MVP trophies awarded to James in his 10-year career were just “average.” Who in their right mind can call a physical specimen like LeBron anything but spectacular? The grittier, tougher and overall more-lenient league that Rodman played in would have benefited James’ game more than you think.
For instance, the amount of steals that James would have gotten in the 1980s and 1990s would have skyrocketed, thus creating more fastbreak points for LBJ. Hand checking was allowed in Jordan’s day and it propelled him to the always-impressive NBA Defensive Player of the year Award in 1987-88. With longer limbs and considerably more strength than Jordan, LeBron wold have been able to take the ball from lesser players at will without having to worry about getting into foul trouble.
