The Dwight Howard rumors have become a common theme to NBA fans over the past couple of years, but the free agent center offered some choices words for the fans in Los Angeles that may truly suggest he will be heading elsewhere this summer.
After ESPN first reported on Thursday morning that Howard is “unlikely” to return to the Los Angeles Lakers next season, the rumors began swirling even more so and some may feel like this is the nail in the coffin.
Howard reportedly said when asked about the fans that they are, “the most unappreciative group of people ever,” ending by simply stating that the fans on the west coast are “ungrateful.”
This is only more drama for Howard. Why does he even have to say anything, let alone something like this? Not to mention he didn’t exactly earn their trust with his play this past season.
It’s looking more and more like Howard will look elsewhere and at this point, that’s probably the best case scenario for both sides, even though the Lakers put up a “STAY” billboard for Howard on Wednesday. Howard clearly isn’t comfortable in L.A., nor can he handle the pressure put on him by the media and the fans alike.
Howard has quickly become, even since his days with the Orlando Magic, one of the more drama-filled players in the NBA. This man needs to get his contract elsewhere and simply play basketball.
The Houston Rockets, Dallas Mavericks and Atlanta Hawks are the likeliest of the potential landing spots for Howard.
