Kevin Durant displayed his pure and raw talent at the Jamal Crawford Summer Pro-Am this past weekend in Seattle. Durant dropped a game-high 63 points in all but 15 seconds of the 51 minutes of game time. He went 26-for-62 from the field, 8-for-32 from three-point land, with a few tremendous dunks to boot.
This was Durant’s first return to Seattle since the 2007-08 season when he left with the rest of the Seattle Supersonics to become a part of the Oklahoma City Thunder. Durant won NBA Rookie of the Year in his first season with the the team before their move to Oklahoma City.
Durant expressed his affection for his former Supersonics by stating, “I just want to say I miss you guys. Thank you for the warm welcome. I can’t wait to come back.”
Spencer Hawes, the Philadelphia 76ers center and former University of Washington star also put on a show as he put up 58 points on 19-of-30 shooting and went 18-of-22 from the charity stripe.
It is also rumored that Crawford’s Los Angeles Clippers‘ teammate Blake Griffin might grace the Pro-Am with his presence in the coming weeks.
Durant tweeted later that day in further appreciation for his former franchise. “Thanks to my brother @JCrossover for bringing me out and showing me so much love! Seattle will always have a place in my heart!! Love u all.”
Before leaving, Durant was kind enough to take some pictures and sign some autographs for fans surrounding his vehicle outside the gym as well.
