We’ve been down this road before. We heard this tune from many people inside and outside the NBA. But we never heard these words come out of the source’s mouth. Derrick Rose has officially claimed himself 100% healthy.
Rose has been working real hard to get back on the basketball court. He’s had a lot of time off to get himself mentally and physically ready for the grind of the 2013-14 season. Recently, he said in an interview that he can cut, run and accelerate on his surgically repaired knee with no pain. He feels that burst he once had and can lift off and dunk. That’s good news for him, the Chicago Bulls organization and their fans.
We really won’t know how healthy D. Rose is until he steps on the court. He’s been preparing himself this offseason working out for his Adidas Asian tour. He’s also been working out with Oklahoma City Thunder‘s Kevin Durant and Minnesota Timberwolves‘ Kevin Love.
There will be critics and haters alike who still question Rose’s heart. Those same people wanted him to suit up and play through the injuries. But Rose knew physically and mentally he wasn’t ready. When his doctors cleared him to play last season, there was a glimmer of hope he was coming back. As the season went on, D. Rose was still on the bench in a suit. That upset fans, media and some people around the NBA.
Rose stating that he is fully healthy is a great thing for the Bulls. He will have the chance to reclaim being one of the top players in the league. Last season is over. People should forget about all the anticipation from last season. A healthy Rose coming back this season puts all the ones who doubted him on notice.
