Orlando Magic head coach Jacque Vaughn has some big plans for his team and specifically Tobias Harris next season. The coach will experiment with Victor Oladipo at both the point guard and shooting guard positions, but Vaughn will ask a lot of Harris defensively as you can see in the Q-and-A below.

“I think overall I want to see his game fully blossom” Vaughn said. “I want to be able to throw him the ball in the post and to see him be able to get a rebound, bust out in transition and make plays. You’ll see him handle the ball a little more. And at the same time, we’re going to challenge him defensively to be able to guard multiple positions on a nightly basis.”
If Harris is able to bring that defensive effort every night, then this team might catch a few other teams off guard next season.
That is a big if though for quite a young team that will be learning on the fly, and something tells me the franchise would be just fine with landing in the lottery again next sea on. Don’t tell that to Harris though, who will be asked to carry a huge load every night defensively. Let’s see if he is up to the task.
