Yes, we know you’ve heard enough about Donald Sterling, the racist former owner of the Los Angeles Clippers, to last you a lifetime. However, you haven’t heard the story as told by Blake Griffin, one of the players who was forced to live under his rules for the last few years.

In a piece written for The Player’s Tribune, Griffin dives into his time under Sterling as well as his experiences following the release of the tapes that led to the owner’s eventual departure from the NBA.

While Griffin certainly doesn’t paint a pretty picture of Sterling, who apparently paraded him around like a new Lamborghini, it’s interesting to see just what happens behind the scenes. It also gives us a perspective into the Clippers players’ side of things, and what they had to endure during the fallout of Sterling’s demise.

“It’s little bit ironic to me that the media has tried to turn Ballmer into a meme when they turned a blind eye to Sterling for years. Steve is a good dude. He’s like a cool dad who gives you candy. Donald was like a weird uncle.”

The best line, though: “Some people are so poor, all they have is their money.”
