All signs are pointing to former euro stud and NBA rookie Bojan Bogdanovic being the Brooklyn Nets‘ opening night starter at shooting guard. Bogdanovic has started each of the three preseason games for Brooklyn so far and he’s looked alright so far. He seems confident in his shot and his whole game. He’s impressed me.
A huge reason why he’ll most likely be starting was an injury to the player that was challenging him to the starting job, Alan Anderson. Anderson missed the first two preseason games which prompted Lionel Hollins to place Bogdanovic in the starting lineup, which he may have done either way.
You really can’t judge on preseason, but he looks solid. Not great, but solid. It seems like he’ll replace Paul Pierce nicely for the Nets. But again, you can’t always count on the NBA preseason to judge all of this.
With all the stars on the team, Bogdanovic won’t have really much attention on him. Most of the attention will be on Deron Williams, Joe Johnson and Brook Lopez, so expect Bogdanovic to have plenty of open shots this upcoming season. Shots he should be able to make. Being 25 years-old also helps because he’s not completely a rookie. He’s played professional basketball in the Euroleague. He doesn’t have any NBA experience, but he does have experience.
I don’t see anything at the moment that would keep Hollins from choosing Bogdanovic as his opening night starter at the shooting guard position. Bogdanovic had the head start with the Anderson injury and he took advantage of it.
