Blake Griffin Was Right in His ‘Weird Uncle’ Comments About Donald Sterling

Now that Donald Sterling is officially out of the picture, the Los Angeles Clippers are taking all sorts of shots at their former owner, and Clippers star Blake Griffin may have taken the best shot of them all.

In an interview on Oct. 16, Griffin gave possibly the weirdest anecdote about his former boss, speaking primarily about how Sterling introduced him at a party in 2009. Griffin said:

“Donald Sterling had me by the hand. You know that thing elderly women for where they grab the top of your hand with just their fingers and lead you around? That’s what he was doing. I was hoping to escape down the stairs, find one of my teammates and blend in with the rest of the crowd. I tried to pull my hand away. Nope.”

That’s what a weird uncle does, and as awkward as it may sound, Griffin was right on the money with his statements. I mean, Google Sterling, and what is the first thing that pops into your mind? You guessed it, weird uncle.

There was no secret within the Clippers organization that Sterling was a racist, and it was surprising, and refreshing, to see an NBA player actually do research on the team and the owner he will be playing for.

So when Sterling was caught making his racist remarks, it didn’t really catch Griffin by surprise, because he already knew Sterling was that type of person, and that’s why Griffin’s “weird uncle” analogy to Sterling was so on the money.
