Jerome Jordan Has A Legitimate Shot To Make Brooklyn Nets’ Roster

Sunday afternoon against the Boston Celtics in a preseason game, Jerome Jordan made his case to make the Brooklyn Nets‘ final roster. He scored 17 points on 7-for-7 shooting and just looked absolutely fantastic. He’s no Brook Lopez, but he has size as a seven-footer. He would pretty much replace Andray Blatche‘s presence.

The chances of Jordan making this team were very slim heading into preseason with the likes of Lopez, Mason Plumlee, Kevin Garnett, Cory Jefferson and Mirza Teletovic all already locked up to contracts, but with the injury history of Lopez it wouldn’t hurt having another seven-footer on the team.

After that game against Boston on Sunday, Jordan has vastly increased his chances of making the final roster. After the game, Nets head coach Lionel Hollins was asked about Jordan’s performance and here’s how he responded:

All in all, Jordan surprised some people with that performance. You honestly should be pulling for the guy. Jordan spent last year playing in Italy. Has only played 21 career NBA games all in the 2011-12 season with the New York Knicks where he barely managed to average two points per game. He was on the Memphis Grizzlies‘ training camp roster a couple years back, where he eventually got cut while Hollins was the head coach, so there’s some familiarity there.  It would be a great story for him to come back and make the Nets roster with Hollins now as head coach.

Jordan has two more preseason games to prove he belongs on this roster, and if he makes it, he could be a nice big man to have off the bench.
